Key Projects Completed:
Custom Electronics (1:09 - 2:56): The team finalized their custom-made PCB by cleaning it with acetone and potting it in protective epoxy resin, finished with a touch of green pigment.
Heater Controls (2:56 - 6:10): They integrated MG heater controls into the Mini, replacing the original incandescent bulbs with custom LED backlighting and creating a bespoke faceplate using a Creality A1 Falcon laser cutter.
Center Console (7:00 - 9:47): The center console fascia, refined by Darwin Composites, was installed with custom-turned trim rings and a 3D-printed gear stick gator retainer.
Interior & Trim (10:22 - 13:49): The team focused on the 'soft furnishings,' installing the front seats, bulkhead kick panels, and custom aluminum side trim panels finished in Volvo gray.
Steering Column & Controls (14:10 - 16:55): They engineered a unique steering column surround by combining multiple donor parts, scanned and 3D printed by Antonio Kuratzer, and finished in black Italian leather.
Glass & Exterior (17:09 - 23:40): The rear quarter window frames were restored and the glass was refitted with 3D-printed spacers to ensure proper alignment.
Lighting & Final Assembly (24:03 - 26:58): The team upgraded the exterior lights to LEDs to protect the electrical system and installed a Mark 1 Cooper S front grille for improved cooling and aesthetics.
Current Status: At 28:03, the team prepares to move the Austin Mini GT-Four out of the shed to test their work, marking a significant milestone in the build.
