  • Gateway for International Relations (Edo Period): During Japan's policy of national isolation (Sakoku) from the 17th to the 19th century, Nagasaki—through the artificial island of Dejima—served as the sole limited trading gateway with Dutch and Chinese merchants. This made it a center for the study of Western science (Rangaku) in Japan.

  • Atomic Bombing Event (August 9, 1945): During World War II, Nagasaki became the second city after Hiroshima to be struck by an atomic bomb ("Fat Man") dropped by the United States. This event destroyed most of the city and killed tens of thousands of people, ultimately triggering the end of World War II.
  • City of World Peace: Following its reconstruction, Nagasaki transformed into a global symbol of world peace and anti-nuclear weapons campaigning.
  • Kota Perdamaian Dunia: Pasca-pembangunan kembali, Nagasaki bertransformasi menjadi simbol perdamaian dunia dan kampanye penolakan senjata nuklir global.
