Muttley: The Iconic Wheezing Sidekick (by AI Assistant)

Muttley is one of the most recognizable characters in animation history, famously serving as the cynical, snickering canine companion to the villainous Dick Dastardly.

Created by Hanna-Barbera, he made his debut in the 1968 series Wacky Races before starring in Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines. He is defined by several unmistakable traits:

  • The Wheeze: His signature "asthmatic" snickering laugh, usually delivered when his master’s schemes fail spectacularly.
  • The Medal Obsession: He frequently demands "Medal! Medal! Medal!" as a condition for his cooperation.

Though he technically plays the role of the sidekick, Muttley is a classic anti-hero who often takes more pleasure in Dastardly's misfortunes than in their actual success.
