1. Assign a Hotkey to a Program or File
This is the simplest way:
-
Create a shortcut to the program/file (if it doesn’t already exist).
-
Right-click the program/file → Send to → Desktop (create shortcut).
-
-
Right-click the shortcut → Properties.
-
Go to the Shortcut tab.
-
In the Shortcut key field, click inside and press the key combo you want (e.g.,
Ctrl + Alt + P
).Windows automatically prefixes it with
Ctrl + Alt
. -
Click Apply → OK.
Now pressing that combo will launch the program/file.
2. Assign a Hotkey to a Folder
Windows doesn’t directly allow folder hotkeys, but you can:
-
Create a shortcut to the folder (Right-click → Send to Desktop).
-
Follow the same steps as above to assign a hotkey.
