1. Assign a Hotkey to a Program or File

This is the simplest way:

  1. Create a shortcut to the program/file (if it doesn’t already exist).

    • Right-click the program/file → Send to → Desktop (create shortcut).

  2. Right-click the shortcutProperties.

  3. Go to the Shortcut tab.

  4. In the Shortcut key field, click inside and press the key combo you want (e.g., Ctrl + Alt + P).

Windows automatically prefixes it with Ctrl + Alt.

  5. Click ApplyOK.

Now pressing that combo will launch the program/file.

2. Assign a Hotkey to a Folder

Windows doesn’t directly allow folder hotkeys, but you can:

  1. Create a shortcut to the folder (Right-click → Send to Desktop).

  2. Follow the same steps as above to assign a hotkey.
